Magnolia Outage History

Why Magnolia Homeowners Act

When Hurricane Beryl came through in July 2024, 2.26 million CenterPoint customers lost power, the largest outage in the company's history, and 1.28 million of them were still waiting two days later. On September 22, 2026, a transmission line failure left about 15,000 CenterPoint customers in the Magnolia area without power. Two months before Beryl, the May 16, 2024 derecho had already knocked out more than 900,000 CenterPoint customers in a single evening. Winter Storm Uri in February 2021 left more than 1.4 million CenterPoint customers without power on the night of February 15.

Why Magnolia Chooses Grasten

What Makes Us Different

Multi Brand Dealer

Wooded lots outside Magnolia's city limits often sit beyond the gas main and run on propane, which changes how a generator should be sized. Hearing Generac, Briggs & Stratton and the other two brands side by side in our showroom shows you the difference first.

Four Brands, One Recommendation

12 Year Power Plus Warranty

On September 22, 2026, a transmission line failure cut power to about 15,000 CenterPoint customers around Magnolia. Under a 12-Year Power Plus Warranty, a Generac air-cooled unit keeps parts, labor and travel covered, and it transfers to a buyer for a small fee.

12 Years of Full Coverage

Customized Mobile Fleet

Magnolia is roughly 21 miles from our Conroe facility. Service vans head out loaded with the components that tend to wear out, and remote monitoring can send us a fault code before you even pick up the phone.

Ready to Roll

Typically 2 to 4 weeks from estimate to power on, depending on City of Magnolia permit timelines. Grasten pulls the permit with a licensed electrician and schedules the inspections. See all six differentiators and the full process on the Houston page ›

Frequently Asked Questions

Magnolia Generator Questions, Answered

Do I need a permit to install a generator in Magnolia?

Yes. The City of Magnolia Planning and Permits office issues a dedicated generator permit: the application is emailed to the permits office, the contractor securing it must be registered with the city as a licensed electrical contractor, and inspections are requested through the city’s third-party inspector. Most Magnolia addresses are outside the small city limits and go through the Montgomery County Permit Department in Conroe. Grasten is set up for both and pulls the permit with a licensed electrician.

What knocks out power in Magnolia?

Hurricanes and summer storms on the overhead lines, and the occasional grid failure. When Hurricane Beryl came through in July 2024, 2.26 million CenterPoint customers lost power, the largest outage in the company’s history, and 1.28 million of them were still waiting two days later. On September 22, 2026, a transmission line failure left about 15,000 CenterPoint customers in the Magnolia area without power. A standby generator starts on its own within seconds and runs until CenterPoint restores service.

Is natural gas available at my Magnolia address?

Often, yes. CenterPoint Energy Entex serves Magnolia. Where there is no gas main on your street, the generator runs on propane from a tank on your property. We confirm which applies during the free estimate.

Will my Magnolia HOA allow a whole home generator?

Many HOAs require architectural approval before installation. Grasten Power prepares the application package and goes through the review process for you, so you are not chasing board approvals on your own.
