What Makes Us Different

Multi Brand Dealer

Older homes near Tomball's historic downtown and new builds in its growing neighborhoods rarely need the same unit. Briggs & Stratton keeps essential circuits running for less up front, Cummins takes on heavier loads, and we install Generac and Kohler as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

Tomball Generator Questions, Answered

Do I need a permit to install a generator in Tomball?

Yes. Inside the city the permit comes from the City of Tomball Community Development Building Division at 501 James Street, and every application and inspection request goes through the city’s SmartGov portal; the electrical application is a separate form signed by the master electrician, with the contractor’s liability insurance naming the city. Tomball addresses outside the city limits go through the Harris County Engineer’s ePermits portal. Grasten pulls the permit with a licensed electrician and schedules the inspections.

What knocks out power in Tomball?

Hurricanes and summer storms on the overhead lines, and the occasional grid failure. When Hurricane Beryl came through in July 2024, 2.26 million CenterPoint customers lost power, the largest outage in the company’s history, and 1.28 million of them were still waiting two days later. More than six in ten of CenterPoint’s Harris County customers were dark for over 24 hours, and more than 865,000 were still without power on the fourth day. A standby generator starts on its own within seconds and runs until CenterPoint restores service.

Is natural gas available at my Tomball address?

Often, yes. CenterPoint Energy Entex serves Tomball. Where there is no gas main on your street, the generator runs on propane from a tank on your property. We confirm which applies during the free estimate.

Will my Tomball HOA allow a whole home generator?

Many HOAs require architectural approval before installation. Grasten Power prepares the application package and goes through the review process for you, so you are not chasing board approvals on your own.

Tomball is served from our Conroe facility at 10890 TX-242, about 20 miles away. Our service vehicles are built out for first visit repairs and stocked with the parts that come up most, and our dispatch runs 24/7 with a live phone.
